How much does it cost?

Early bird entry fee is $135 (+ transaction fees) before midnight Sunday 22 May.

Standard entry fee is $145 (+ transaction fees) before midnight Sunday 28 August.

Late entry fee is $160 (+ transaction fees) before midnight Sunday 2 October, if not sold out earlier. Preferred jersey sizes may not be available for late registrations.

What do I get as a rider?

All riders receive an exclusive 2022 event jersey (sizing chart available here), on course nutrition and mechanic support throughout the ride.

There will be hydration, bars, gels, bananas and savoury items provided at the pit stop locations at Stanwell Tops, Wollongong, Kiama and a free BBQ at the finish line in Berry. 

There will also be a post ride event at the Great Southern Hotel in Berry on Saturday evening, with meal deals for purchase via the bistro.

Please note that only road bikes are able to be utilised (no TT / triathlon or mountain bikes).

Which group should I ride in?

There will be seven riding groups, with an average pace of fastest to slowest and more relaxed. Each departing from Bondi at 6:00am and total distance of the ride will be 155km (approximate elevation of 1,700m).

  • Group 1 – average pace of 30-35 km/hr
  • Group 2 – average pace of 30 km/hr
  • Group 3 – average pace of 25-30 km/hr
  • Group 4 – average pace of 25-30 km/hr
  • Group 5 – average pace of 20-25 km/hr
  • Group 6 – average pace of 20-25 km/hr
  • Group 7 – dedicated Wilson Asset Management group

Please note that the ride is an open road event, adhering to normal road rules. Each group will be riding 2 abreast as a pack, and will remain together as a riding group for the duration of the ride.

Training Rides

Training rides will depart from Centennial Park and all registered riders will need to join at least three training rides.  The rides allow riders to meet fellow participants and get you used to riding as a pack on parts of the official Bondi2Berry route. Specific details and routes for each ride will be provided in rider newsletters.

Training ride schedule:

  • Intro ride Centennial Park – Sunday 19 June – 50km / 200m elevation
  • Intro ride Kurnell – Sunday 10 July – 70km / 300m elevation
  • Training ride 1 – Saturday 6 August – 88km / 524m elevation
  • Training ride 2 – Sunday 28 August – 105km / 785m elevation
  • Training ride 3 – Saturday 17 September – 105km / 938m elevation
  • Training ride 4 – Sunday 9 October – 118km / 1,220m elevation
  • Training ride 5 – Saturday 22 October – 130km / 1,060m elevation
  • Training ride 6 – Sunday 6 November – 125km / 1,410m elevation
  • Training ride 7 – DATE TBC weather contingency

Fundraising

All riders will need to fundraise a minimum of $500, and set up an individual fundraising page. Fundraising incentives for every rider – 10% discount on merchandise when you reach $750, and free bib shorts (valued at $130) if you fundraise $1,000 by Friday 31 August.

Insurance / Cycling Australia Membership

Please note, to participate in the Bondi2Berry ride, you must have a valid AusCycling Membership. If you do not have a current AusCycling Membership, a day license will provided for you as part of your registration (note, an additional $20 will be charged on registration) which provides insurance coverage on event day only.

We strongly encourage all cyclists to have some form of cycling insurance which covers personal and third party, for training rides and every day commuting and cycling.

Jersey sizing

Please check your jersey size (sizing chart available here) and have your Cycling Australia Membership number available if you have one.

Transport to the start area in Bondi

All groups depart from the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club. The ride will start at 6:00am (rider registration and briefing from 5:30 – 6:00am)

By car or bike:

Drive or ride to the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, Campbell Parade, North Bondi

By train:

The T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawara line terminates at Bondi Junction. From there it is a 10 minute bike ride down hill to North Bondi.

Bag drop

Bag drop will be available from the start area. Please ensure your bag is clearly labelled with your name and contact number, and is a back pack (no wheelie bags or suitcases). This will make it easier for you to ride with, either to the start in Bondi, or to your accommodation in Berry.

Transport from Berry to Sydney

For those who are travelling back to Sydney directly after the ride, there are four trains leaving Berry Train Station throughout the afternoon and evening on Saturday. The train station is an easy 10 minute bike ride from Berry Bowling Club and the one way trip will cost approximately $6 with an Opal card.

A summary of train departures is below to be used as a guide only and may change closer to event day. Please ensure you check the Sydney Trains website for specific scheduling.

4:43 pm: Depart Berry Station Platform 1 (change at Kiama Station) – 7:31 pm: Arrive Bondi Junction

6:38pm: Depart Berry Station Platform 1 (change at Kiama and Wollongong Stations) – 9:48pm: Arrive Bondi Junction

8:39pm: Depart Berry Station Platform 1 (change at Kiama and Wollongong Stations) – 11:48pm: Arrive Bondi Junction

Berry to Sydney, Sunday morning / afternoon (guide only):

8:42 am: Depart Berry Station Platform 1 (change at Kiama Station) – 11:31 am: Arrive Bondi Junction

Refund Policy

Refunds will be provided to riders who wish to withdraw from the ride in line with the below schedule:

  • Before midnight on 30 June 2022 – full refund of registration*
  • Before midnight on 31 August 2022 – 50% refund of registration*
  • Before midnight on 19 October 2022 – 25% refund of registration*
  • After 19 October 2022 – no refund is available

*all refunds will incur a $10 administration and transfer fee.
