What do I get as a rider?
All riders will receive an exclusive 2017 event jersey (sizing chart available here), on course nutrition throughout the ride and spare parts (if needed). There will be hydration, bars, gels, bananas and savoury items provided at the pit stop locations at Stanwell Tops, Wollongong, Kiama and a BBQ at the finish line in Berry.
Two mechanics will be roaming on course following the groups to provide assistance as required.
You will also receive an invitation to attend the Bondi2Berry launch night where we will present you with the jerseys and an event pack with some other great products. There will also be a post ride event at the Berry Hotel on Saturday evening.
Please note that only road bikes are able to be utilised (no TT / triathlon or mountain bikes).
Which group should I ride in?
There will be three riding groups for the 2017 Ride to Remember.
All groups will be departing from Bondi at 6:15am and total distance of the ride will be 155km. Elevation for the ride is approximately 1,700m. The first group will be riding with an average pace of 30-35km / hour, with the other 2 groups riding at a slightly slower pace of around 25km / hour.
Please note that the ride is an open road event, adhering to normal road rules. Each group will be riding 2 abreast as a pack, and will remain together as a riding group for the duration of the ride.
Official Bondi2Berry training rides will be organised and all registered riders will need to join us for at least two training rides. Bondi2Berry is an open road event, there are no road closures, and as such will be riding on the road and adhering to all road rules. The training rides allow riders to meet fellow participants and get you used to riding as a pack on parts of the official Bondi2Berry route.
Check out 2016 Bondi2Berry Ride to Remember Route. The 2017 Ride to Remember will be very similar with a small loop through Berry Main Street before finishing at the Berry Bowling Club.
The ride’s objective is to raise $75,000 for Alzheimer’s Australia, to go towards researching a cure for dementia.
All riders will need to set up an individual fundraising page via GoFundraise and we ask that you contribute by raising a minimum of $500 to go towards the target.
